This Week…

This is week has been difficult because I hurt my leg and now its hard for me to walk around, but its getting better. I’m still allowed to join the volleyball team because I really want to get the sports award, but only if my leg gets better in a few weeks. I’m also happy of seeing some of my friends that Ididn’t see over the winter break. So far school has been fun, but we got alot of homework right away so now I don’t just have to readjust myself to getting up early I also have to readjust myself to all the homework.

Christmas Spirit

Today we made Christmas crackers for children who aren’t as fortunate as us. Our crackers will go to Grandview Elementry which is are sister school, Queen Mary school in North Vancouver, the Harvest project which is a place where they collect food, The Covenant House, a place where they let children stay over night if they have runaway, and Union Gospel Mission, a place for homeless people. It was fun because we got to make them with are little kindergarten buddies. I liked making crackers because it made me feel like I was helping someone who I dont know and giving them somthing they will hopefully be thankful for, because that may just be the only thing they get this year. I hope they appreciate everyones hard work.

This week has been really fun because we had a basket ball jamboree and we came third. We lost against Caufield, which I didn’t think was fair because they kept body checking us and they weren’t called, we lost 15-0, I know, it’s really bad. We won 3 out of 4 games because we didn’t make it into the finals. On the Bowen Island team my check was really annoying, she was smaller than me, (which is surprising) and really fast. She’d run around and distract me, and she thought  that she knew everything about the game, eventhough she didn’t know who her check was at the start. In that game we won 11-10. Anyway I think our team played really well. GO RIDGEVIEW!!!

“I am silent” day

Today is “I am silent” day. It’s really hard to not talk for a WHOLE day. I’m someone who talks ALOT so its really hard to not talk. Won thing that I like about “I am silent” day is that I can get my work done a lot faster. The point of this day is to raise awareness to children all around the world. If you earn more than $50 you get a homework pass. A homework pass is a pass that lets you either extend or skip some homework, depending on what it is, of course. So far I have 3 sponsors, my Mom, my Dad, and my Grandfather. My Mom has given me $5 per block, and the same with my Dad. My Grandfather has given me $3 per block. All together (including the blocks I’m planning on doing, which are 6 out of 7 because I have an after school activity that requiers me to talk) that makes, $78. Im so exited for 3 o`clock because I get to say my first word since 12 a.m. thins morning. Oh I can`t wait!!!.

Aquatic Ape Theory

I think the aquatic ape theory was interesting but confusing at the same time. The aquatic ape theory was about the theory that we evolved from apes but with a twist. In this version it says we evolved from apes but when we learnt how to walk, we learnt in water, because we would have to stand up in water to get across. This theory is not completely final, there is other theorys too. Like that god created this. I personally belive that this theory doesnt make sence and apes evolved into humans by time, and learnt how to stand up over the years.

Halloween

This year for Halloween I am going to be with my close friends. We are going to have a party at one of ‎my friend’s house and eat as much pizza as we can. Then at around 5:00 we will start trick or treating, ‎its a strategy! It’s a way to get as much candy as we can, then when other houses open up we can go there first before anyone else. We hope this strategy works. At my friends house we are going to play lots of games and we may even go down to park royal before. We are also competing to see who can get the most candy. I hope I win!!!

What Im Thankful For…

So far this year, I am thankful for my friends, my teachers, and my parents. My friends have been kind to me, and have kept me company, and have been there when I need help and encouragement. My teachers have helped me learn and has boosted my self confidence. My parents have been there for me and let my grow as a person, and have taken care of me when I am sick, and have nurtured me. Another thing I am thankful for is the rest of my family, my grandpa, my cousins, and my uncles and aunts. My grandpa has been there my whole life and makes me feel better whenever I’m sad. My cousins have stuck up for me (the older ones) and have taught me how to be around younger children and not feel awkward (the younger ones). My uncles and  aunts have always encouraged me and believed in me. The last thing I am thankful for is the turkey we will be eating on Thanksgiving and the people who will be making it (my aunts).

Mean MathCast

Today we did the “mini” Terry Fox with our kindergarten buddies, last year we did the big because we were grade 6s. Today we all had to wear red and white, because of the Canadian colours. Terry Fox is a Canadian hero who tried to run across Canada, but sadly his cancer spread to his lungs and he died. This run was called “The Marathon of Hope”.

Friday, September 18 2009

One the first day of school, it was strange, meeting our new teachers, seeing the familiar faces of other students that you haven’t over the summer, and meeting new students. I also liked the field trip we had on Friday, September 11, because that was the day we went to UBC to go on a ropes coarse, which was really fun. My favorite part of the day was going on the gravity swing, a really fun rope activity that you get pulled up by the other people in your group, and then you let go of a string and you swing through mid-air. I screamed really loudly, even one of my friends in a different group herd me.
